A church in northern China, Changchun city, Jilin province, hosted a fire safety lecture with the local fire department on November 10.

November 9th is China's annual "Fire Safety Awareness Day," aligning with the Chinese fire emergency number "119." November also marks the transition from autumn to winter, when the weather gets dry, making it the weather of high fire risk.

Recently, a fire erupted in a church in a northern town just three days after renovations, destroying video and audio equipment, doors, windows, and the roof.

In response, on November 10, Hexin Church in Helong Town, Nong'an County, Changchun city, organized a fire safety lecture after Sunday worship. The church invited Instructor Wang from the local fire department to lecture on key topics, including the "four fire safety capabilities" (the ability to inspect and eliminate fire hazards, to organize the fire fighting of initial fires, to organize the evacuation of personnel, and to publicize, educate and train fire safety), self-inspection for safety, removal of hidden hazards, and case studies on fire incidents.

Instructor Wang covered five key aspects of fire safety through demonstrations, videos, and on-site lectures. First, he instructed believers on using fire extinguishers and other firefighting tools in case of a fire. Second, he explained how the church can organize orderly firefighting efforts during an emergency. In addition to fire safety at church, he discussed safe practices for using fire and electricity at home. He also demonstrated the proper use of equipment like fire blankets and extinguishers. Finally, he offered guidance on self-protection and emergency measures when firefighting equipment is unavailable, including how to call for help and evacuate safely.
