A delegation from the Mission Covenant Church of Norway visited the Shaanxi Provincial CC&TSPM, strengthening the bond of friendship between the two churches.
According to the host, on November 14, the Rev. Wang Jun, chairperson and president of the Shaanxi CC&TSPM, welcomed a four-member delegation led by Rev. Jon-Arne Hoppestad, head of the International Department of Mission Covenant Church of Norway.
During the meeting, Wang provided an overview of Christianity in Shaanxi and highlighted the various ministries undertaken by the provincial CC&TSPM following the 9th Representative Conference. He also explained the significance of the sinicization of Christianity and the specific initiatives implemented by churches in Shaanxi Province. Wang expressed gratitude to the delegation for respecting the Chinese church's "three-self" principles (self-preaching, self-governing, and self-supporting) and for their efforts in positively promoting the Chinese Church abroad while addressing misunderstandings. He expressed hope for continued friendly exchanges between the two sides.
Hoppestad commended the Shaanxi CC&TSPM for its efforts in pastoral training, theological education, media ministry, social services, and other initiatives. He expressed appreciation for its work in advancing the sinicization of Christianity, hoping these efforts would provide valuable insights for the ministry of the Mission Covenant Church of Norway. He also outlined the recent achievements of the Mission Covenant Church of Norway in areas such as pastoral care, talent development, and social services.
The visiting group also toured the Shaanxi Bible School and Shangluo Church.
