The Changsha Municipal Government surveyed the renovation of the dilapidated buildings project of the city's CC&TSPM to guarantee the lawful rights and interests of religious groups.

On April 12, the survey team of the municipal authorities visited the Changsha CC&TSPM’s run-down buildings located in Liaoyuan Lane and Beizheng Street Church Pastoral Building to assess the current conditions and review the project's progress as well as the existing challenges.

According to Changsha CC&TSPM, during the meeting at the Beizheng Street Church, Liu Lixin, deputy director of the Changsha Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau, stated that the dilapidated house issue has concerned Changsha's Christian community for over 40 years and is expected to be resolved soon.

Local government officials reported on the progress of the clearance of run-down construction, compensation status, occurring problems, and forthcoming plans for the renovation.

Vice Mayor Gao Wenqi urged all departments to learn from the "4.29" self-built house collapse incident which caused four deaths in Wangcheng District to effectively protect religious groups' lawful rights and interests.
