Protestant and Catholic communities in Baoshan District, Shanghai, jointly organized the "Sinicization of Management System" seminar, fostering greater collaboration between the two groups.
According to the Shanghai CC&TSPM, on September 21, the Protestant and Catholic churches in Baoshan District convened a seminar on the "Sinicization of Religious Management System" at Luodian Church. The event drew 155 attendees, including municipal and district officials and pastoral staff from both communities, along with representatives from the distinct congregations.
Zhao Jinghan, deputy director of the United Front Department of the Baoshan District Committee of the CPC and director of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Office, emphasized the importance of upholding the sinicization of religions with advocation for exploring doctrinal elements that promote social harmony and progress, which should be integrated into traditional Chinese culture. Additionally, she called for strengthening the development of religious groups and venues while enhancing management standards.
Rev. Xu Yulan, chairperson of the municipal TSPM, remarked that the discussions among representatives of the two denominations regarding this year's theme of "Preaching in Shanghai" are beneficial and inspiring. She outlined three aspirations for the future development of Christianity in the district: first, to understand and actively engage in promoting the "Preaching in Shanghai" initiative; second, to focus on utilizing the outcomes of the discussions into practical applications of faith and pulpit supplies that align with the doctrines and era; and third, to guide Christians in establishing a proper value system of faith while encouraging their active participation in public welfare initiatives to glorify God and benefit society.
Director Xu Yuying from the Shanghai Catholic Patriotic Association (SCPA) stated that the seminar enhanced cooperation among the two denominations.
