Jesus Church in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province, convened the 2024 Volunteer Symposium, aiming to summarize the achievements of 2024, engage in in-depth discussions on areas of improvement, and formulate the work plan and goals for 2025.
Over 100 volunteers from 18 groups, including the Holy Work Group, Choir, Prayer Group, Hygiene Group, Security Group, and Martha Group, participated in the symposium on December 26, said CCC&TSPM.
During the symposium, leaders of each group reflected on their work in 2024 from their respective service roles. Volunteers agreed that diverse activities organized by the church strengthened its cohesion and boosted the faith of believers. These activities included a knowledge competition on religious policies and regulations, a preaching competition on the sinicization of Christianity, an artistic performance celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, assistance to AIDS patients by the Pingxiang Christian Volunteer Service Team, and a Bible memorization initiative.
They acknowledged that despite some achievements, there are still significant shortcomings in church ministry. Key issues include the aging volunteer workforce and communication challenges. To address these issues, a series of improvement measures were proposed during the symposium, including enhancing communication and coordination between groups, regularly organizing team-building activities, and establishing clearer work guidelines.
Regarding the 2025 work objectives, the volunteers reached a consensus to focus on improving team cohesion and service quality. They plan to achieve this by conducting regular training sessions, communication meetings, and group discussions to foster mutual understanding and support among volunteers.
