To enhance the quality of sacred music, Zion Church in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, is recruiting organists from among its congregation and has launched a five-session organ training program.
According to the announcement from Zion Church last Friday, the organ training course will officially begin on March 1. Applicants must have at least a sixth-grade level in piano and be willing to serve in various church ministries.
The course will be led by renowned organist Chang Xiaoting, with teaching assistants providing hands-on practice on the organ. On the first day, Chang will introduce the history, structure, playing techniques, and unique role of the organ in music.
As one of China's most influential organists, Chang Xiaoting holds a doctorate in organ from the Royal Academy of Music and was the first in the school's history to receive its organist diploma. Notably, in 2019, she was invited to perform for King Charles III during his visit to the academy.
