Urumqi Municipal CC&TSPM hosted a citywide sacred music training at Mingde Church on two Saturdays, March 16 and March 22, in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
According to CCC&TSPM, 150 choir members from by 17 local churches and gathering points, participated in the event. This training continued the citywide choir training initiative from previous years and marked the start of this year's series of training sessions.
During the opening ceremony, Rev. Cui Hebin, chairperson of the municipal TSPM, emphasized that the goal of the training was to equip worship leaders, section leaders, and accompanists in areas of faith, spiritual life, and sacred music service.
In the devotional session before the training, Rev. Fan Chenguang, honorary president and chairman of the municipal CC&TSPM, addressed "The Serving Function of Worship Music," urging choir members to continually seek spiritual growth, appreciate the gifts bestowed by God, serve faithfully, worship with sincerity and devotion, and spread the gospel through hymns. Meanwhile, Rev. Li Qinfeng preached "Serving God from the Perspective of King Saul," drawing on 1 Samuel 15:10-23 to remind choir members to patiently await God's guidance, align with His will, and maintain humility and obedience in their service.
After the sermon, Brother Yang Zaizhao, a seasoned choir member with over 20 years of service and professional music training, was invited to conduct specialized training for the attendees. He discussed the selection and sharing of choir pieces, collaborating with local pastors to choose suitable hymns for various festivals, and fostering cooperation among choir members. He also led practical exercises focused on vocal techniques, choral coordination, and the emotional expression of hymns.
