The Chinese coming-of-age drama movie, "Youth" (Fang Hua) directed by Feng Xiaogang and written by Geling Yan, who famously penned the Zhang Yimou's "The Flowers of War" and Chen Kaige's "Forever Enthralled," is slated for release in China on October 1, 2017.
The movie tells the story of idealistic adolescents who take part in an army art troupe and they learn how to love and grow pain while entering adulthood. It stars Huang Xuan, Miao Miao, Zhong Chuxi, Yang Caiyu, Li Xiaofeng, Wang Tianchen, Wang Keru and Suijun Zhuoma.
According to Feng Xiaogang, the movie is inspired by a song and that it talks about his experiences during his youthful years. He added that it will be an exciting movie.
After he received accolades and critical acclaim in many film festivals for his movie "I'm Not Madame Bovary," the director took on a new project with a budget of more than 120 million yuan. According to Xiaogang, he casted actors and actresses who never had plastic surgery to maintain an authentic, real, natural and sincere feel for the theme.
Wang Yuelei, the executive director of Huayi Brothers Media group, expressed his excitement over the much-awaited film.
"The film will certainly touch a lot of viewers, I believe the most powerful moving force of the National Day of the People's Republic of China will be created by "Youth," he said.
To recall, the movie has been awarded as the most anticipated year movie award. Director Feng Xiaogang also received the best interactive film awards and Huang Xuan won as the breakthrough actor performer during the film festival exhibition held last June.
