The Shanghai Agape Foundation recently organized a series of comforting initiatives aimed at supporting cancer patients.
Leaders of the foundation and volunteers from the "Same Disease Peer Support Program" visited the homes of cancer patients to offer them summer gifts on July 17th, according to the foundation.
One of the recipients, a middle-aged woman named Nai, has been battling cancer for more than two decades and has endured recurring episodes of cancer cell metastasis for approximately 15 years. Consequently, she has faced prolonged discomfort. Nevertheless, with the support and encouragement from the volunteers involved in the Shanghai Agape Foundation-funded project, she engaged in rehabilitation exercises and underwent 121 challenging chemotherapy sessions.
Another beneficiary of this program is a 78-year-old woman named Dai, who resides in Yangpu District and has been coping with breast cancer while living alone for several years. Thanks to the support from the program, she received assistance for both her physical and mental recovery, empowering her to confront her pain courageously.
The foundation provided funding for the program, which offered cancer patients rehabilitation guidance, physical exercises, and group presentations designed to alleviate their negative emotions and facilitate their recovery process.
