Following a 6.2-magnitude earthquake on December 18, Christian communities started relief and recovery efforts for Gansu and Qinghai.

Lanzhou CC&TSPM in Gansu Province called on churches in diverse districts and counties of the city to donate money and goods to the affected areas on December 20.

On the same day, Suzhou Apostle Church in Jiangsu invited believers to pray together for the people in the disaster-stricken areas.

On December 20, the Shanghai YMCA & YWCA established the Shanghai Hua Ai Charity Foundation, which contributed 200,000 yuan to help with earthquake relief in Gansu, Qinghai, and other affected areas. Two days later, the Shanghai Agape Foundation donated 100,000 yuan.

From December 21 to December 23, the Amity Foundation delivered eight batches of relief supplies to Jishishan County in Gansu Province and Haidong City in Qinghai Province, including power strips, electric blankets, wires, disposable tableware, cotton tents, and portable houses.

According to feedback from frontline workers, many houses in the disaster-stricken areas have collapsed or cracked. Therefore, the Amity Foundation plans to support some house repair work through repair subsidies or by providing employment as a form of relief.

In addition to this, the foundation also plans to carry out reconstruction and development work in disaster-affected villages, focusing on restoring public infrastructure and disaster prevention and mitigation.
